Program Projects

Here at ECAG, we are always working on a variety of projects to further overall watershed health and human access to water resources. We have partnered with many organizations in the past, and we look forward to working with new organizations in the future. Please see below for an overview of some of our more significant projects.

Well Construction Project

We have dug over fifteen wells in the local community. Five of these wells do not go dry during the dry season.

Mark II Well Pump –
Local Construction and Distribution

We construct Mark II Well Pumps in local welding shops for distribution to those with little or no income. In addition, we sell Mark II Well Pumps to those that can afford them to raise money for other ECAG projects. These pumps will pull water from 1,000 feet below the land’s surface. We also provide information about installation and maintenance of these well pumps.

SODIS Water Filtration Technology Pilot Project

We have partnered with Sam Rock, a student at Leeds University, in England to provide input on his development of a new type of SODIS Water Filtration Technology. We hope to use SODIS Water Filtration Technology in the future for our surface water sources of poor water quality.

Tree Nursery Project

We started a tree nursery over 14 years ago to stock and produce trees (both fruit trees and fuel trees) to provide to local community members for free or for low cost. We also hope to plant these trees at public institutions and in public spaces (such as along highways). We are also producing water catchment tree seedlings to plant in water catchment areas to protect our streams and rivers.

Tree Seed-Saving Project

We are collecting and storing different tree seeds and looking for support to build cold storage facilities and seeds harvesting equipment. Currently, TREES FOR THE FUTURE from the U.S.A. is providing us with tree seeds for planting under their East African regional co-coordinator David Tyes from Arizona.
